Geely E2 vs Chery Q: What Do You Actually Get? (Both Trims, Every Spec)

The short version: The Geely E2 starts at R339,900 and the Chery Q at R349,900. At the top of each range, the Geely E2 Apex and Chery Q Elite cost exactly the same, R389,900. Both are rear-wheel drive with a single motor, both have six airbags on every trim, and both come with a home-charging offer. Where they differ is in charging speed, range, warranty length and how each one spends your money on equipment.

The freebies

Everybody likes a good deal. Both brands attach their offers to finance, so read the terms before you count on them.

Geely: every customer financed through Geely Finance qualifies for a R3,000 charge card, a complimentary wallbox home charger and an emergency charger. Applies to both the Aspire and the Apex. Terms and conditions apply.

Chery: the pre-order offer included a power tailgate, a home charging pile, a portable charger, and either a R5,000 charging card or up to R5,000 towards your deposit. The charging card and the R5,000 are only available when financing through Chery Finance and are subject to the charging network’s terms. This is a limited-time offer, so check with your dealer whether it is still running.

Our verdict: go and drive both

These two cars are closer than their badges suggest. If you want the lowest entry price, a starter set of driver assistance on the cheapest trim, and a 360-degree camera with transparent chassis view, the Geely E2 makes a strong case. If you want faster DC charging, double the V2L output, a longer warranty and a very long ADAS list on the Elite, the Chery Q does. Taste is personal. Sit in both, drive both, and see which one feels like yours.
