Geely E2 vs Chery Q: What Do You Actually Get? (Both Trims, Every Spec)
Two affordable electric hatchbacks, two trims each, almost the same price. This is not a fight. It is a side-by-side of exactly what you get with each, so you can decide what fits your life.
The short version: The Geely E2 starts at R339,900 and the Chery Q at R349,900. At the top of each range, the Geely E2 Apex and Chery Q Elite cost exactly the same, R389,900. Both are rear-wheel drive with a single motor, both have six airbags on every trim, and both come with a home-charging offer. Where they differ is in charging speed, range, warranty length and how each one spends your money on equipment.
The line-up and prices
Each car comes in two trims and with one battery size, so the battery is the same whichever trim you choose.

Powertrain: what moves you
Both cars use a single electric motor on the rear axle. The numbers are the same on both trims of each car.
| Category | Geely E2 | Chery Q |
|---|---|---|
| Power | 85 kW | 90 kW |
| Torque | 150 Nm | 115 Nm |
| 0–100 km/h | 11.5 seconds | 13.5 seconds |
| Top speed | Around 130 km/h | At least 135 km/h |
| Drive | Rear-wheel drive | Rear-wheel drive |
The Geely has more torque and is quicker off the line. The Chery has a little more power and a slightly higher top speed. In city traffic, both feel lively enough for daily driving.
Battery and range
| Category | Geely E2 | Chery Q |
|---|---|---|
| Battery size | 39.4 kWh | 42.7 kWh |
| Battery type | Lithium iron phosphate (LFP) | Lithium iron phosphate (LFP) |
| WLTP range | 325 km | About 340 km |
Chery officially quotes 400 km on the older NEDC cycle. The WLTP figure above is the equivalent conversion reported in South African launch coverage. Real-world range will be lower than any official figure and depends on speed, temperature and how you drive.
Charging: AC, DC and vehicle-to-load
| Category | Geely E2 | Chery Q |
|---|---|---|
| Max AC (home / wallbox) | 7 kW | 6.6 kW |

| DC 30–80% | About 25 minutes | 16.5 minutes |
| Vehicle-to-load (V2L) | 3.3 kW | 6.6 kW |
At home, there is almost nothing between them. On the road, 90 kW against 70 kW is a real difference when you are standing at a fast charger. V2L means you can power devices from the car, useful for camping, picnics or load shedding. The Chery offers double the output.

This is a limited-time offer, so check with your dealer whether it is still running.
Our verdict: go and drive both
These two cars are closer than their badges suggest. If you want the lowest entry price, a starter set of driver assistance on the cheapest trim, and a 360-degree camera with transparent chassis view, the Geely E2 makes a strong case. If you want faster DC charging, double the V2L output, a longer warranty and a very long ADAS list on the Elite, the Chery Q does. Taste is personal. Sit in both, drive both, and see which one feels like yours.
