Why I started this journey
Fifteen years with the same car felt like a lifetime, and this year I decided it was time for a change. I imagined a grown-up SUV, something that felt like an upgrade, but the price and rising petrol costs quickly made that idea unrealistic. I then looked at hybrids and higher-end EVs, but the numbers still didn’t add up for where I am financially right now. Working from home and only using the car for school runs, church and shopping made me ask a simple question: do I really need an expensive petrol car? That question is where everything began.
The discovery and the confusion
As I dug deeper, I found the EV world confusing and, frankly, a little intimidating. Reviews and conversations often made EVs sound like something only wealthy people buy, and local information was scarce dealers had little to no clear guidance, and many creators online dismissed EVs outright. I fell in love with one model I saw, and then another; I warmed to the idea of an affordable EV that could actually work for my family. But jargon, charging logistics, and cost comparisons left
What this blog is for and how we’ll go forward
This blog is my journey — and it’s for people like me who want an EV but don’t have millions to spend. I’m building a space to explain, demystify, and compare in plain language: real costs, real options, and practical steps for families and everyday drivers. I’ll share what I learn about buying, charging, maintenance, and the small decisions that make a big difference. Think of this as a conversation: I’ll test things, ask the hard questions, and bring back answers so we can all make better choices together.
Thank you for reading. This is Blog One — there will be more posts where I break down specific models, charging setups, and budgeting tips. Let’s take this journey together and see how an EV could fit into our lives.
