Lepas L6 EV South Africa: Specs, Range, Features and the Real Pre-Order Terms

You can already reserve the Lepas L6 EV, but the price and launch date are still unannounced. This guide covers everything Lepas South Africa has published so far, flags what is still missing, and reads the pre-order fine print so you do not have to.

Range and charging

Lepas claims up to 450 km on the WLTC cycle. No South African real-world test exists yet. As a rough planning guide of our own (not a Lepas claim), highway driving will usually deliver noticeably less than the cycle figure, so think in the region of 350 to 400 km until we can test it.

A portable Type 2 charger comes as standard, and the 6.6 kW onboard AC charger suits overnight home charging. Overseas reports mention roughly 120 kW for DC charging, but treat that as a guide only until Lepas South Africa confirms its own figure.

Performance, chassis and brakes

The L6 EV uses independent rear suspension and electric power steering. Lepas also highlights the Bosch IPB 2.0 brake system, which it says responds in under 0.3 of a second and helps extend range through energy recovery.

Exterior

Lepas describes the design as inspired by the sleek shape of a cheetah. Highlights include 19-inch sport alloys, red brake calipers, LED headlights with intelligent headlight control, rain-sensing wipers and a power tailgate.

  • Blind Spot Detection, Lane Change Assist and Emergency Lane Keeping
  • Automatic Emergency Braking that recognises vehicles, pedestrians and cyclists
  • Rear Cross-Traffic Alert and Rear Cross-Traffic Braking
  • 540-degree HD panoramic camera, Fully Automatic Parking Assist, front and rear parking sensors

Dimensions and boot space

Lepas South Africa has not published local EV dimensions. The global specification lists a length of 4,570 mm, width of 1,852 mm, height of 1,683 mm and wheelbase of 2,700 mm. Boot space is reported at 435 litres, growing to 1,255 litres with the rear seats folded. Treat these as global figures until confirmed locally.

Pre-order offer: what you get and what the terms say

The pre-order special lists a 7 kW home charger, a vehicle-to-load (V2L) adaptor, a Type M charging cable, a R5,000 charge voucher with card, and full standard installation. The agreement adds important conditions:

  • The offer applies to customers who reserve and then conclude the final purchase.
  • Installation follows a site survey; extra work such as major panel upgrades, long cabling or civil works may be for your own account.
  • The offer is personal, non-transferable, cannot be exchanged for cash, and may be withdrawn or amended at any time.
  • A reservation does not guarantee a specific variant, colour or trim.
  • The deposit is refundable. If you have not received final pricing and specifications within six months, you can cancel and receive a full refund within seven business days.
  • Once your car is available, expect roughly seven to fourteen days to complete the purchase.

A separate finance promotion has run since 28 August 2026 for the first 50 qualifying customers with a signed offer to purchase or a paid deposit. The terms page does not state the finance benefit, so ask your dealer to confirm it in writing.

Warranty

The electric version's warranty has not been published in South Africa. The petrol L6 carries a five-year/150,000 km warranty and a five-year service plan, but do not assume the same terms cover the electric battery.

Verdict

The L6 EV looks like a roomy, well-equipped family electric SUV with a long safety and comfort list. The missing pieces are price, DC charging speed and warranty. If those suit you when announced, book a test drive and feel it for yourself; taste is personal.
