Geely E2, from R339 900
The Geely E2 hatchback has landed as South Africa's most affordable fully electric vehicle, undercutting the BYD Dolphin Surf. Here's the full price and spec breakdown.
The Geely E2 — South Africa's most affordable fully electric car.
South Africa's new cheapest EV
Known as the EX2 in some markets and the Xingyuan in China — where it was that country's best-selling car overall in 2025 — the Geely E2 has officially arrived in Mzansi. It kicks off at R339 900, undercutting the BYD Dolphin Surf by R2 000 to grab the title of SA's most affordable EV. Despite the lower price, it's physically bigger than the Dolphin Surf: 4 135 mm long (the same length as a VW T-Cross) with a 2 650 mm wheelbase — 210 mm longer and 150 mm more wheelbase than its closest rival.
Power comes from a rear-mounted electric motor producing 85 kW and 150 Nm — an unusual layout for a budget EV, sending power to the rear wheels rather than the front. Geely claims a 0–100 kph time of 11.5 seconds and a top speed of 130 kph. The 39.4 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery delivers a claimed WLTP range of 325 km.
